Questions people ask
- Yes. Both recipes are formulated to be complete and balanced for all cat life stages, so either one can be your cat's whole diet. Plenty of people use it as a topper instead — both work.
- Go by weight. A 10 lb cat eats about 1 1/4 cups a day of the Chicken recipe as a full meal, or 1 cup of the Chicken & Beef, which is richer. As a topper it's a tablespoon to half a cup depending on size. The full chart is on each product page.
- It's recommended. Add up to an equal amount of warm water and wait 30–60 seconds — it rehydrates the food and brings the smell back, which matters more to cats than to dogs. Some cats prefer it dry, and that's fine as long as fresh water is always out.
- The Chicken recipe is higher in protein (66.5% vs 62%) and lower in fat (14.5% vs 22%). The Chicken & Beef is richer and more calorie-dense, so a cat eats less of it by volume. Both use chicken organs and the same vegetables.
- Freeze-dried raw tends to go over well with picky cats because rehydrating it brings back a strong smell, and smell is most of how a cat decides. Start by using it as a topper over their current food rather than switching outright.
- Treat it like raw meat, because that's what it is. Wash your hands, utensils and the bowl with hot soapy water before and after, and throw out anything left in the bowl after two hours. Store the bag somewhere cool and dark. Not for human consumption.
