AlphaPak began with gear: saddlebag packs, harnesses, leashes, and sleep gear built for dogs who go where you go. That gear is still here, with a lifetime warranty on the packs.

The food came from the same place. Dogs who work and play hard deserve real food, and we wanted something that packs light, keeps in a cupboard, and puts whole meat and vegetables in the bowl without a freezer. So we made it.

One source of meat, plus organs and whole fruits and vegetables. Freeze-dried raw, never cooked. No synthetic additives.

It is made in the USA and developed with a veterinarian and a chemical engineer on staff. On the label it reads: "AlphaPak Freeze-Dried Dog Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO nutritional profiles for all dog life stages, including growth and development of large size dogs (70 lbs or more as adult dogs)."

A veterinarian and a chemical engineer are on staff. Recipes, the guides on Learn, and the Science page all go through that team before they are published. The credit is to the team, not one name, because more than one qualified person looks at every piece.

We run a kill-step process and test the finished food, and the equipment it is made on, for Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli. Freeze-drying does not cook the food, so treat it like raw at home: wash hands and bowls, seal the bag, and toss rehydrated leftovers after two hours.

AlphaPak is a food, not a medicine. We do not say a bag will make your dog live longer or keep them from getting sick, because no dog food has earned that promise. What the research does show is that a lean, healthy weight is the most studied thing an owner can control. Our food is built with that in mind, and the Science page shows the studies.
